This is the second time in the company's history that this measure has been implemented, which aims to promote the combined use of these two modes of transport to encourage efficient sustainable mobility to travel around the region.

Last June a total of 1,460 cyclist users joined the free access to the Madrid Metro network on the occasion of World Bicycle Day. The event was promoted by former cyclist Pedro Delgado.

To access the network, the cyclist must inform the station staff so that they can facilitate entry (either in person or through intercoms). Metro reminds that you can travel with bicycles on trains, but always taking into account a series of rules. Thus, at present, it is possible to access the entire network by bike and during all service hours on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

This same schedule extends to weekdays for lines 8, 11, 12, Metro Ligero 1 and to some specific stations on the other lines. For the others, access is not possible from Monday to Friday during peak hours, that is, from 7.30 to 9.30, from 14.00 to 16.00 and from 18.00 to 20.00.

Only one bicycle can be carried per passenger and train journeys must be made with a maximum of two units in the head carriage and two in the tail carriage. On trains equipped with spaces reserved for bicycles, these must be placed in said spaces.

In addition, passengers may transport their bicycles on escalators, moving walkways and lifts, provided that the level of occupancy of these facilities allows it and that no disturbance is caused to other people. It is not permitted to ride a bicycle inside stations.
