Considering the proximity to the coast, the cheapest town would be Vélez-Málaga. The price per square meter, as of September 16, is 1,609 euros. Within the municipality, the most affordable area is the historic centre, reaching 1,111 euros per square metre.
The town, located in the Axarquía region, is just 10 minutes by car from Torre del Mar. This area of the Malaga coast belongs to the municipality of Vélez-Málaga and is home to the beach of the same name, divided into several sections: El Mortero, Laguna Chica and Levante, among others.
Among the cheapest homes, according to Idealista, is a semi-detached house in the centre, measuring 65 square metres and priced at 40,000 euros; other properties also stand out, such as a house measuring 80 square metres, in the neighbourhood of La Villa, and next to the Santa María la Mayor church. The cost is 55,000 euros.
Other cheap towns to buy a house in the province of Malaga
In the last year there has been an increase in the price per square meter of the Axarquía town, with a variation of more than 24%. Hence, those interested in buying a home look at the prices of other urban areas, despite being a little further from the coast.
This is the case of Cártama, 25 minutes from the beaches of Málaga and Torremolinos. The average price per square metre is 1,841 euros and its urban centre ranges from 73-square-metre flats for 56,000 euros (in the town itself) to semi-detached houses in the Estación de Cártama neighbourhood, of 140 square metres and for 215,000 euros.
On the other hand, a little further inland in the province, there are other alternatives such as Riogordo, Periana or Colmenar, the latter with good access to the beaches of Rincón de la Victoria and the capital. As far as cost is concerned, the cheapest is Riogordo, also located in the Axarquía and with barely 2,000 inhabitants. The price per square metre is 839 euros.
