The community led the latest declines in unemployment in Spain thanks to the visitors it receives and the hiring that they entail.
Andalusia received 1,375,292 international air travelers last July, which reflects an increase of 10.4% compared to the same month in 2023 and shows a cumulative figure since January of this year of 7,433,222 passengers arriving in the Andalusian community, according to data published by Turespaña and provided by the Government of Spain.
Malaga Airport is the fourth in Spain to receive the most travellers, with a total of 1,136,851 in July, which represents a monthly variation of 10.1% and a year-on-year variation of 9.8%. As has been the case in the months of 2024, the upward trend in all markets continued in July, and the number of passengers issued to Spain from the main issuing countries increased in relation to the figures for the same month in 2023. Special mention should be made of the growth in Poland, of 38.2%, the United States, with a 15.9% increase, and the 'rest of countries', with an increase of 11.3%.
The United Kingdom, with 2.6 million international passengers, generated 23.2% of the total flow of arrivals to Spain in July, registering a year-on-year increase of 4.6%. The Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands together received 48% of the total number of passengers of British origin. Precisely, the English market is one of the bastions of the Costa del Sol.
