“We detected that there was an increase that was not usual and an extraordinary increase in filth, so in January a working group was set up together with the Municipal Board of the District to determine together with the residents what measures are to be carried out”, explained Carabante.

In statements to the media after his visit to the Barajas Municipal Sports Centre, the delegate explained that during these meetings it was decided to “increase the number of waste bins” and “relocate some containers”. “Over the last few months, the number of complaints and claims has been reduced by two thirds”, he stressed.

“The two priority districts for Madrid City Council in terms of cleaning resources are Centro and Usera. In any case, we will continue to call these meetings, if necessary, to establish with the residents what the lines of improvement are”, the delegate stressed.

Finally, Carabante explained that, during these meetings, the residents made clear to the City Council the need for “more resources” and that there were “uncivil behaviours” that increased the dirtiness in the streets of the district. “That is why we have increased the inspection services, over the last few months 100 reports of sanctions have been opened against residents and merchants”, Carabante concluded.
