Among the airports with the most notable increases in operations, Barcelona-El Prat led the ranking with 946 additional flights, followed by Madrid-Barajas Airport, with 394 more flights. As for the domestic routes with the highest volume of operations in Spain, the highlights were Barcelona-Palma de Mallorca and Lanzarote-Gran Canaria. The Barcelona-Palma de Mallorca route registered 674 flights, closely followed by the reverse Palma de Mallorca-Barcelona route, with 646 flights. Meanwhile, the Lanzarote-Gran Canaria route accumulated 638 flights.

The airlines that led the number of total operations in September in Spain were Ryanair and Iberia. Specifically, Ryanair led with 30,246 flights, while Iberia followed with 18,037 operations. The domestic market was dominated by Iberia and Vueling, although Binter Canarias stood out with significant growth, reaching 7,412 flights compared to 6,951 the previous year.

In this sense, the most punctual airlines in Spain were Aerolíneas Argentinas and Delta, considering both domestic and international flights and taking into account only airlines that operated at least 50 flights during the month. Aerolíneas Argentinas led the ranking with an average delay of just 0.08 minutes, followed by Delta, which recorded an average delay of 1.3 minutes.

The number of flight cancellations in Spain during the month of September 2024 registered a significant increase compared to the same period last year. In September 2023, around 390 flights were cancelled, while in 2024 this number rose to 557, registering an increase of 42.8%. Vueling tops the list of the most affected airlines (155 cancellations), followed by British Airways (96 cancellations).

As for delays, flights delayed by more than three hours increased significantly in September, when around 0.6% of all flights were delayed by more than three hours.
