The airport has increased its connections to reach 154 destinations worldwide, it is now the fourth airport infrastructure in Spain, after Madrid, Barcelona and Palma, and since January it has registered 11 and a half million passengers.
The airport on the Costa del Sol has managed to exceed 516 flights per day and more than 76,700 passengers pass through its facilities every day. And the figures are improving this summer. It already set a record in June, which was the month with the most passengers in its history, beating July of last year which closed with more than two million four hundred thousand passengers, according to Canal Sur.
And while we wait to see the figures for July, August has also started off very strongly. Between January and June it has registered nearly 11 and a half million passengers, 14 percent more, and has managed to break the barrier of 80,000 operations. Since spring it has added seven new international routes that connect Malaga with new destinations in Sweden, the United Kingdom, Africa and Asia, including a direct flight to Qatar.
