The Ibizan aerodrome has improved from Level 2 "Reduction" to Level 3 "Optimisation", which means that in addition to having an emissions management and reduction programme, it involves third parties and evaluates its emissions, AENA reported in a press release shared by EFE.
Airport Carbon Accreditation is the only global carbon management certification programme for airports that has institutional support, the airport authority added.
The programme is responsible for independently assessing and recognising airports that are at different stages of their journey towards comprehensive management of their CO2 emissions.
To do so, it evaluates six levels of certification: "Inventory", "Reduction", "Optimisation", "Neutrality", "Transformation" and "Transition", the last two of which were recently created in line with the commitments of the Paris Agreement.
