Of the total, 2.7 million euros were allocated to elevators, another 9.4 million to the slopes and the remaining 43.9 million euros are distributed between digitalisation, parking, activities, competition material, hotels and restaurants. Per season, it was Sierra Nevada that led (43 million euros), followed by Baqueira (9.6 million euros) and La Molina (4.77 million euros).

“It was a year in which visitors stayed a little less than we are used to,” with 99 days of activity throughout the season, compared to the average of 125 days across all seasons, although the resort that managed to stay open the longest, reached 149 days. In total, ATUDEM indicates that the decrease was 14.27% compared to the previous season.

Employers attribute this decrease to the lack of snow at resorts during the central months of the season, which is considered “unusual” but has evidently affected the final visitor count. And also to revenue, which fell from the historic €160.1 million in 2021-2022 to €141 million last season, although the drop already started in 2022-2023, when €153.2 million were billed.

Regarding the evolution of the number of visitors, the representative of Spanish resorts pointed to a reduction after the recovery achieved in 2021-2022, when snow tourism was considered compatible with the health restrictions of the pandemic. On that occasion, 5.9 million visitors were reached, around 100 thousand more than in the previous record period of 2017-2018. Furthermore, the decline was pronounced, with 5.5 million in 2022-2023 and 4.7 in 2023-2024.
