The mayor of La Oliva, Isaí Blanco, recalls: “Fuerteventura is characterized by its virgin beaches and unique landscapes, whose conservation has been possible thanks to the commitment of the local community to protect our natural environment. Acts such as the removal of stones and shells for decorative purposes go against the collective effort to preserve the island.”
The Councillor for Tourism and the Environment, David Fajardo, would like to remind all residents and visitors that: “The extraction of any type of natural element from the beaches and places on the island is strictly prohibited. We do not know the origin of the stones, but we would like to point out that the Natural Heritage Law protects these resources, whether they are taken from the Archipelago or from the peninsula, since the alteration of the natural environment leads to an imbalance in the ecosystem and the beauty of the place.”
