The 30th Administrative Court of Madrid has ordered the work on the new car park of the Real Madrid stadium to be halted.
This decision comes after the residents appealed against the ruling that annulled the contract for the concession of the work on this infrastructure, in which its execution was required. The city council of the capital is studying the text, against which an appeal can still be made.
This ruling, dated May 23, upheld the appeal of the Residents' Association of People Affected by the Bernabéu against the agreement of the Governing Board of March 9, 2023, which authorized the contract for the concession of works for the construction and operation of the parking lots on Paseo de la Castellana-Bernabéu and Padre Damián.
The text maintained that both the feasibility study presented by Real Madrid and the subsequent economic-financial feasibility study prepared by the Administration suffered "a significant alteration" after the public hearing process, "with the City Council itself introducing important modifications which were not submitted again to public information." Nor is there provided, the ruling states, "evidence to prove the calculation parameters and the results obtained by the Administration" nor is there "a Transport study."
However, despite this non-final ruling, the suspension of these works had not been made effective, so the affected residents appealed with the intention of this ruling being materialized. As the text states, the judge has now agreed that "in provisional execution of the aforementioned sentence, the suspension of the works is ordered," whose administrative authorization had been annulled and because the continuation of the same "lacks the pertinent administrative justification that authorized them and contravenes what was resolved in the aforementioned sentence."
After learning of the order to stop the works in the parking lot of the white club's stadium, municipal sources assure that the legal services of the Madrid City Council will study the text, against which an appeal can be filed within 15 days from its notification.
