The Department of Markets and Commerce of the Alicante City Council has authorised the extraordinary opening to facilitate shopping in the city as well as to attend to the request of the merchants, as reported by the council in a statement.
The Councilor for Markets, Lidia López, explained that "in a week in which there are two holidays, it has been considered important to be able to open the supply services of the Markets and Street Markets on the next holiday on Saturday so that citizens can make their purchases and in turn serve as a measure to help and encourage the sales of the merchants."
In this way, it is authorized that the municipal markets will be able to open and extend their opening hours, this holiday, in the facilities that will be open to the public in the Central Market, Carolinas and Babel, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and in Benalúa, during their usual opening hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
