If this forecast is confirmed, annual inflation (price increases compared to the same period in the previous year) in August in Spain remained at the same rate as July, after two months of increases in May and June.

The price increase this month was mainly due to fuel prices, which fell, but less than in August 2024, according to the INE.

The underlying inflation rate (excluding energy and fresh food products, traditionally the most volatile in the shopping basket) increased by a tenth in August, to 2.4%.

In the quarter-on-quarter (compared to the previous month), prices remained unchanged.
