According to the National Statistics Institute (INE), between October and December 2024, the number of unemployed people in Spain fell by 158,600. In total, by 2024, the number of unemployed had fallen by 265,300 people.

The figures show that 21.857,900 people were employed by December 2024, 468,100 more than at the end of 2023.

Employment in the tertiary sector saw the most hires, totalling approximately 100,000 new workers in the sector. The same happened in the agriculture sector, where 1900 workers were hired. However, in the construction sector, there were 1,200 unemployed.

In a report presented in December, the Bank of Spain forecasts that the unemployment rate will continue to fall, reaching 9.9 per cent in 2027.
