Public television in Ireland, one of the countries that has already openly shown its intention to go hand in hand with Spain in recognition, announced that the conversations between both countries to reach an agreement on the date of the decision were aimed at 21 May, just 48 hours before the start of the 9-J European electoral campaign.
The President of the Government himself has already urged, during his tours to the Middle East and European countries such as Poland, Norway and Ireland, to address the recognition of Palestine before the summer.
Pedro Sánchez also confirmed that, after approval by the Council of Ministers, his intention was to go to the Congress of Deputies to solemnly “inform” the entire Chamber. In addition to Ireland, the Spanish Government maintains contacts with countries such as Malta and Slovenia, which have also publicly committed to the joint recognition.
