The cardinals gathered in the Sistine Chapel elected the 267th bishop of Rome and also leader of the Catholic Church on the second day of the conclave.

The names most chosen by Popes throughout the history of the Catholic Church have been John, 23 times, Benedict and Gregory both 16, followed by the names Clement and also Leo, now 14.
Among the most chosen names are also Innocent, with 12, Boniface with nine and Urban with eight.
