The numbers this year are higher than the ones registered in the same period last year, when the number of employed people rose by 434,700. According to El País, the new milestone, 22 million, is reached two years after surpassing the previous milestone of 21 million employed people.
Mostly, people are employed in the tourism industry, which boosted the job offer due to the start of the summer season. In total, there were created 180,500 jobs, representing 36% of the employment generated. Nevertheless, this year, the sector has less 24,600 when compared to the numbers last year.
