The cumulative expenditure of travellers in the first half of the year exceeds 55,500 million euros, another record according to INE data.
Spain continues to record steady growth in both the arrival of international tourists and in the amount they spend.
During the first six months of the year, the country welcomed 42.5 million visitors, an increase of 13% compared to the same period last year, according to data released by the National Statistics Institute (INE). This is the first time that the 40 million mark has been exceeded in the first half of the year, once again pointing to a record year for the sector. Following this trend, visitor spending also increased. It increased by 20.5%, reaching the unprecedented figure of 55.5 billion euros.
