The Spanish rider, who started from pole position and won the sprint race on 12 April, crossed the finish line 1.800 seconds ahead of compatriot Maverick Viñales (KTM), with Italian Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) in third at 4.535.

The classification is not yet official, as the stewards are investigating the tyre pressure of Maverick Viñales' bike, which could still be penalised.

The race was the liveliest of the season, with Italian-Brazilian Franco Morbidelli (Ducati) shooting from third on the grid to the lead after the first few corners.

Marc Márquez touched his brother Alex's Ducati and lost one of his bike's rear wings. Nothing fazed the six-time world champion, who once again rode a steady race before shooting away in the final laps.

This was the 114th podium of Marc Márquez's career, and he equalled his compatriot Jorge Lorenzo in second place among riders with the most podiums in history, behind Italian Valentino Rossi, who has 235.

The Spanish rider had only won once in Qatar, in 2014. With this victory, he became the Spanish driver with the most wins in the premier class, with 65 triumphs.

Also noteworthy was the return to competition of Spaniard Jorge Martin (Aprilia). However, the former world champion crashed when he was 17th and suffered a concussion and rib trauma.

With the results of this race, Marc Márquez increased his lead in the World Championship. He now has 123 points, 18 more than his brother Alex, who is second and was only seventh today.

The World Championship returns in a fortnight' time with the Spanish GP at Jerez de la Frontera.
