"The city's coastal location alone, along with the fact that it has 300 days of sunshine a year, could already place Barcelona on the list of the most beautiful cities" wrote Architectural Digest magazine when it included Barcelona as one of the 20 most beautiful cities in the world. Now, just a few days after the ranking of the well-known design publication was published, to celebrate World Photography Day, Civitatis has revealed which are the five most photographed cities in the world and Barcelona is one of them.
The organic shapes, vibrant colours and unique structure of the modernist buildings combine perfectly with the new constructions that make up the city as it is today and have placed it as the third most photographed city in the world. Barcelona has taken the bronze, "for its cosmopolitan atmosphere, its cultural, commercial and tourist offer, its impressive architecture, its streets and its excellent location on the shores of the Mediterranean," says the Civitatis study. The online guided tour company also highlights some of its most outstanding - and most visited - monuments such as the Sagrada Familia, Park Güell and La Pedrera.
