On Sunday, two boats with 198 migrants were rescued in waters near the island of El Hierro, both close to the dock of La Restinga. Five of the migrants needed to be transferred to a hospital due to different pathologies resulting from the crossing and problems of varying severity.
As detailed by Salvamento, it was at 11.47 hours when the first boat was sighted, escorted to port by the Adhara rescue boat. At 13.42 hours the second was sighted, 2 miles from La Restinga.
The latest arrival was that of a boat with 27 migrants in Lanzarote, intercepted in the last few hours when they were sailing in waters near the island. The occupants were transferred to the dock in Arrecife, where the usual medical team made up of the Red Cross and the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) was waiting.
