The youngest of the Márquez brothers started from fourth on the grid, but took the lead at the first corner of the 11th of 25 laps, crossing the finish line 1.561 seconds ahead of second-placed Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha), with Italian Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) third at 2.217.
The race was marked by Marc Márquez's (Ducati) crash on the third lap, when he was in third position behind Fabio Quartararo, who had started from pole position. The two had collided on the first lap, but without consequences. Márquez lost control of the front of his Ducati at the entrance to the stadium corner and slid into the gravel.
He managed to return to the race, albeit with serious damage to the left side of his bike, but nothing to stop him recovering from 22nd to 12th position.
The Catalan has won every sprint race this season and the races in Thailand, Argentina and Qatar, having crashed out in the main race of the GP of the Americas in Austin (United States).
This was the 200th victory for a Spanish rider in the MotoGP world championship, the first for Alex Márquez, whose best result at Jerez de la Frontera was fourth place in 2024.
