Spain wants a “total disconnection” from Israeli military technology after the Spanish Ministry of Defence suspended the licence of an Israeli company to produce 168 anti-tank missiles in the country, the government said.

The statement was made by the government’s spokesperson, Pilar Alegria, at the press conference held at the end of the Council of Ministers, in which she said that the Government is studying how to redirect this missile programme intended to equip the Army, following the revocation of the licence.

The minister referred to the statements made by the Secretary of State for Defence, Amparo Valcarce, who announced the process of Spain’s technological disconnection with Israel so as not to depend “in any way” on that country, and which began with the revocation of this licence to produce weapons in Spanish territory.

“The objective here is clear, as the Secretary of State herself explained, which is a complete disconnection from Israeli technology,” the government spokesperson stressed.
