“Joaquín Caparros will coach Sevilla until the end of the 2024/25 season after García Pimienta’s dismissal was announced. The club has reached an agreement with Caparrós to guide the team in this final phase of the season,” reads the Sevillians’ website.
This will be the 69-year-old’s fourth time in charge of Sevilla, having been at the club between 2000 and 2005 and having been on the bench for the last four games of the 2017/18 season and the last 11 of the 2018/19 season.
The 14th-placed team in the Spanish league had announced the departure of García Pimienta after four consecutive defeats in La Liga.
The 50-year-old Catalan coach had been in charge of Sevilla since the start of the season and in the league, he had nine wins, as many draws and 13 defeats.
