Gran Canaria was nominated after a voting from hundreds of travel agents, in the United Kingdom, “who highlighted the destination's strength in terms of inclusion, diversity and quality of the tourist experience for all types of travellers.” Said Turismo GranCanaria in a statement.

“In addition to the LGBTQ+ Friendly award, Gran Canaria was a finalist in the Favourite Luxury Destination category, competing with top international destinations. The award in this category ultimately went to the Seychelles.”

The Gran Canaria Tourism Board played a prominent role in the ceremony, presenting the award for Favourite Short-Haul Tour Operator, which went to Jet2holidays. Other notable winners included Gold Medal (favourite long-haul operator) and the Maldives, chosen as the most romantic and desirable destination.

This new recognition adds to the ongoing efforts by Gran Canaria Tourism to consolidate the image of the destination in the British market, one of the most strategic for the island.

Gran Canaria Tourism values this award as an incentive to continue strengthening relations with British agents, advancing its positioning in key segments such as LGBTQ+, luxury and experiential tourism, and reaffirming the island's commitment to diverse, sustainable hospitality that is open to all audiences.
