Goalkeeper Pepe Reina, twice European champion and once world champion with Spain, announced the end of his career, after 26 seasons playing at the highest level.

Speaking to the Movistar+ channel, Reina, who spent his last season in Italy, at Como, confessed that it is time to “hang up the gloves” after a "very beautiful career".

"I feel very lucky for what I've experienced. It's been a long time. I wasn't expecting it, but I think the time has come and I feel like finishing here. I decided to leave last January. I spoke to my wife, and we decided together," said the goalkeeper who came through the ranks at FC Barcelona.

The Spanish goalkeeper leaves the pitch with a resume full of titles, especially with Spain, where he won the 2008 Euro Cup and the 2012 Euro Cup, and, in between, the 2010 World Cup.
